FSC®-Certified Wood at Fog & Venø

At Fog & Venø, all the wood we source for our interior panels is FSC®-certified.

FSC® certification verifies that the wood can be traced back to forests managed in accordance with FSC®’s environmental, social, and economic requirements—including consideration for biodiversity, decent working conditions for forest workers, and ensuring that no more trees are harvested than the forest can regenerate.

100% of the wood we source for the production of our interior panels is FSC®-certified. This is an integral part of our procurement strategy, which we ensure through collaboration with FSC®-certified suppliers and requirements for full traceability.

Our requirement for FSC®-certified wood is part of our ESG strategy.

We partner with the FSC because independent certification provides our customers with a level of assurance that our own words cannot: that the wood is properly managed and can be traced throughout the entire supply chain.

“Our partnership with FSC and our certified suppliers gives us full traceability of the wood. We can document where it comes from—and that’s a sense of security we want to be able to provide our customers.”

Katrine Trærup Nielsen, ESG Manager at Fog & Venø

FSC®-certified wood—what does that mean?

FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council®) is an international certification system for the monitoring and traceability of wood.

The FSC® standard sets requirements for, among other things:

Consideration for the environment and biodiversity in forest management

Good working conditions and rights for forest workers

Ensuring that no more wood is harvested than the forest can regenerate

Our entire range of panels is made from FSC®-certified wood and other controlled materials, with full traceability from forest to finished product.

What “controlled materials” means in practice

FSC® has several product labels, and the difference lies in their composition:

FSC® 100% — all the wood in the product comes from FSC®-certified forests.

FSC® Mix — products with the FSC® Mix label contain at least 70% FSC®-certified and/or recycled material and no more than 30% controlled wood.

Controlled wood is not FSC®-certified, but it is verified to ensure that it does not come from unacceptable sources—such as illegal logging, forests where high conservation values are threatened, or forests being converted for other purposes.

What is FSC®?

The Forest Stewardship Council® is a global, nonprofit certification program for wood and paper. The certification ensures full traceability, so the origin of the wood can be documented from the forest to the finished product. In order to sell FSC®-certified products, forest owners, sawmills, and manufacturers must all be certified, and retailers must have a trademark license.
